The Lighthouse purchased its first location at 128 West 8th Street in San Bernardino, establishing a permanent home for serving individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

The Lighthouse officially became a private nonprofit corporation, laying the foundation for decades of service to come.

J. Dale Gentry purchased a 4,400-square-foot building at 762 North Sierra Way for the benefit of our students. He also donated two 12-passenger vans, expanding access to classes, activities, and enriching experiences throughout Southern California.

The Board of Directors began acquiring neighboring properties to support future growth. Five properties on Vine Street and four on 8th Street were purchased, creating more than two acres for expansion.

The Lighthouse made an offer to purchase the building at 359 East Parkcenter Circle South, which would become the organization's new home.

From February 1, through July 31, 2010, extensive tenant improvements were completed to prepare the Parkcenter facility for students, staff, and future generations of service.

Students attended their first day of classes at the Parkcenter Circle campus, beginning a new era for the Lighthouse.
